Hakkai frowns, checks the map again (torn across the Red Basin). Gojyo’s smoking, brushing ash towards the Grape Valley and Goku’s shoes are buried in red sand. Hakkai breathes in smoke from Sanzo’s cigarette. (Why are we so far north? Sanzo jabs India and Hakkai drags his fingers across the Himalayas, tapping the Taklimakan Desert.) They are inching towards the border along the Tian Shan mountains, and jeep is parked on a flaming mountain just outside of Turfan as Gojyo and Goku try to hard boil an egg in the sand. (West, Sanzo repeats, crushing the cigarette on the dashboard).
